Sal Jumat, an International Graduate Accountant from Singapore studying in Perth, Australia.

EMPLOYERS DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR CULTURE OR BACKGROUND

Employers Don’t Care About Your Culture or Background

  • This a big myth that needs to be addressed as most of my clients always feel that people have racist agendas against them…this is not true.
  • If you keep thinking that having a different culture and background is going to ruin your opportunity to get more interviews, you are wrong!
  • You don’t need to worry about that, what you need to focus on is yourself on not what others think but rather what value and service you can bring to others.

I had a client named Nadirah who comes from a staunch Muslim family and wears a hijab.

She graduated from the Uni of London with an Accounting degree.

She was worried that with the headdress, she would be frown upon at interviews.

  • Most employers usually want to see if you are a good fit for the company and they assess that from your personality not your experience or qualifications.
  • That’s how organisations work, with a great team member who is willing to work well with others.
