Twitter started in 2006.

As of Fall '13,

1 billion users
36 billion unique tweets = 307 tweet average/ person
5700 tweets/ sec

Largest demographic- 18-29 year olds
No disparity among ethnic or socioeconomic groups (Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project, January 2014)
