PYRAMID OF GIZA

  • Oldest of all 7 wonders
  • Believed to way 5.1 mill. Tonnes
  • The ancient name of giza was Khufu's Horizon.

HANGING GARDENS OF BABYLONIA

  • The only 7 wonders that may not have existed
  • If they existed, it would take 8,200 gallons of water for the plants
  • No documentation of the gardens existing

TEMPLE OF ARTIMIS

  • Also known as temple of Diana
  • Each time the temple was rebuilt it was on the same site
  • The second temple was 4 times larger then the first

STATUE OF ZEUS

  • It was about 42 feet tall
  • The statue was a wood frame covered in ivory
  • Phidias created zues & athena and both got stolen

HALICARNASSUS

  • By 1401AD,all that was left was the base & tomb
  • An earth quake toppled the columns and destroyed the stone charriot
  • Alexander took over the city but left the harlicarnassus untouched

LIGHTHOUSE OF ALEXANDRIA

  • It is thought to be made from limestone blocks
  • It was approximately 450 Ft Tall
  • If we were to build it today it would cost 3 mill.

THE COLOSSUS OF RHODES

  • The Colossus of Rhodes stood on a 50 foot high white marble pedestal.
  • Both the Colossus of Rhodes and the Statue of Liberty were built as symbols to freedom.
  • It was reported that it took approximately 900 camels to carry away all the scrap metal.
