8 CHARACTERISTICS OF LIFE

BY GABY, CARSON, AND EMILY

CELLS:
We used the photo of flowers to portray cells because every organism is made up of cells, in this case it is plant cells. Cells cannot be seen by the naked eye and make up every living creature. There are two different types of cells; plant cells and animal cells.

CELLS

Reproduction:
Reproduction is the act of reproducing offspring sexually or asexually. Asexual reproduction is done by a individual organism and sexual reproduction is done by two different organisms of the opposite sex, hence the photo we picked to represent sexual reproduction of a couple and their child.

REPRODUCTION

Metabolism:
Metabolism is a process in which a living thing digests food and creates energy to live. We used this photo of a person drinking water because it shows the take in of something eatable and that will soon digest and help the person sustain life.

METABOLISM

Responsiveness:
Responsiveness is basically an organisms reaction to anything. For example, you get hit by a ball, you shout in pain, that is a reaction. We used this photo to portray responsiveness by showing the persons reaction to getting hit in the stomach, which is most commonly known as pain.

RESPONSIVENESS

Adapt to Environment:
Adapting to an Environment is the act of adjustment by an organism to a change in environment from examples like natural selection, these organisms adjust to the environment so that they can survive better in these new conditions. We used this photo of the two people sleeping on a different surface, rather than a bed because the toe people are trying to adapt and alter so that they can be used to these types of conditions.

ADAPTATION

Growth:
Growth a natural process that organisms go through, it is an increase in size, either height or width. We used this photo to portray growth because the tree is quite tall, and it has grown from a seed to a tree. It will continuously grow if it is provided what is necessary for it to live.

GROWTH

Homeostasis:
Homeostasis is how the internal conditions of a organisms system are regulated so that they can stay at a constant stable level. We used this photo of a leaf to represent homeostasis in plant cells, to show that if the internal system for organisms is taken care of the organism will be stable.

Complex Organization:
Complex Organization is your body and the functions of each part of the body. We used this picture of skin tissue because that is apart of an organisms body.
