PRESENTATION OUTLINE

One Month at DES

A visual overview

In the beginning,

every single nook and cranny

was crammed full of stuff!
There were books, stuffed animals, posters, and assorted stuff everywhere. The books that wouldn't fit on the shelves were crammed onto several book carts haphazardly parked throughout the library.

Luckily,

DES was renovated over the summer.

and the walls were painted.

The old carpet was removed

Then came the fun part -

unpacking,

and unpacking,

and unpacking,

and unpacking.

Note all of the EMPTY boxes on top of the shelves.

The obvious question:

What am I supposed to do with all this stuff?!?

Every single shelf looked like this,

and this.

So every shelf

was stripped bare and cleaned.
I also threw away all of the moldy, dusty, insect-infested magazine holders that served as signage in this section.

I weeded,

extensively.

After lots more weeding and cleaning,

the library was ready for students!

I typically do not place books on the bottom shelves; however, these are the high-interest series such as Geronimo Stilton, Lemony Snicket, and Goosebumps. Students love that they know exactly where to find these and that they can now sit and browse for titles they have not read yet.

The library is now a valuable hub of the school and it is always packed full of students and teachers!
