HISTORY OF SIERRA LEONE

  • Sierra Leone is a small country in Western Africa that was thrown into a civil war in the 90s.
  • Portuguese explorers land in what is now Freetown. They named the place Serra lyoa, meaning lion mountains.
  • European traders regularly stopped there to trade cloth and metal things for other material goods and a few slaves
