PRESENTATION OUTLINE

FORGIVE NOT FORGET

CHRISTIAN FOTRÉ

Forgiveness to me is being able to move on, releasing all pent up hatred.

"Forgiveness in nothing more and nothing less than the act of self healing" - Eva Kor

For Eva, forgiving has therapeutic values.

"Forgive your worst enemy. It will free your soul, it will set you free." - Eva Kor

Holding in hatred prevents us from moving on in life.

"Whatever was done to me, it is no longer causing me such pain that I can not be the person I want to be"
- Eva Kor

How do you know when you're ready to forgive?

"If I were to lose my compassion for those who have harmed me, then I would continue the cycle of anger and abuse that began long before I was born." - Dalai Lama

Buddhism teaches that forgiveness brings us closer to Nirvana.

"I was expecting him to say something else; instead he said that what he most feared was losing his compassion for the Chinese." - Dalai Lama

Said by fellow monk after escaping Chinese imprisonment.

"I believe one should forgive the person or persons who have committed atrocities against oneself and mankind. But this does not necessarily mean one should forget about the atrocities committed" -Dalai Lama

Forgive but, don't forget.
