a Spencer Adventure #1

Puzzles From a Spider

Spencer cries. His mother is dying. Spencer and his mother are very poor. But before Spencer's mom dies, she gives Spencer a part of a map that leads to treasure! She also gives him a rock that transports him to different temples. Before he goes on this adventure, he hugs his mom, looks away, looks back, and her eyes were closed. It was time for an adventure.

Spencer packed his bags. He put in a flashlight, snacks, a water bottle (with water in it) and some books in case he got bored. Spencer looked at his map. "Hey Spencer! What are you doing?" Spencer looked up. It was Spencer's friend Sammy! Spencer was speechless. He didn't know if he should tell her about the map and the treasure. Spencer wasn't really great at making decisions. "I'm on a treasure hunt!" He slapped his mouth.

Sammy was silent, then spoke. "Prove it then." Spencer looked up. Spencer got a little annoyed. He hated proving things. He wasn't very good at that either, but this time he actually could. "OK then, I will." He looked at his crystal. He remembered the words his mom told him. "In this adventure I find and seek, the rest of the map, let's take a peek!" Then, woosh! Spencer and Sammy were off to a temple, their first adventure. "Here we go!" Spencer said loudly.

Then, we arrived at a temple. It was a big, yellowy temple with torches that produced light in it. Sammy gasped. "Where-where are we?!" Sammy stuttered. I shrugged. Her face was red. "You don't know where we are?!" I shrugged again. "Look, all I know is that we're in a temple okay? So calm down. What badness could possibly happen?" I ask. Carla stared at me. Hard. Surprisingly, she shrugged. "Well, OK. I really hope you know what your doing." I grinned.

Then, we went inside the Temple the Doom. (I liked to call it, but I didn't tell Sammy that to freak her out again). I looked at the map. I guess that there were two parts of the map that was missing. There was already one part of the map. We entered inside the Temple of Doom. Then, we both stopped. We had to go left or right. Sammy Looked at me, grinning at little. I didn't think that smile was good. And it really wasn't. "So, since I trust you, you know the way we should go. So... Which way, smarty pants?" I growled. "Not funny." Sammy shrugged.

I thought about this for a little bit. When I had no idea's, I picked a random path. "It's... That way!" I said, pointing to the right. Carla followed me into the right path. "It's this way because it's the "right" way." I said winking and giggling. Sammy led out a sarcastic laugh. I just knew that. As we went I gasped. Sammy slowly turned to me, as if I wanted this to happen. "Did we just hit a dead end?! Oh, come on!" Sammy said miserably. "Sorry." Sammy growled. Then, I saw something. It looked giant. And black. Then, I noticed what it was. I shrieked. Sammy looked at what I saw. She gave a gasp, but starting to laugh.

"Why is that so f-funny? Why are y-you laughing?" I said fearfully. "It's just... sure it's a giant spider, but I'm surprised that you are freaked out more than me." I tried to take it back being scared and all, but it was no use. She kept on teasing me. Suddenly, shroom! An arrow almost like me and Sammy as it swung by. "Whoa, that was a close one!" I nodded in agreement. Then, shroom, shroom, shroom! More arrows started to swing at us. I saw a piece of metal on the ground. I defended me and Sammy of the wild arrows flying toward us. I saw a lever.

Without thinking, I jumped and quickly yanked down the lever. The arrows suddenly all stops. It was as if I was a an odd prince saying open sesame in a snap. I thought Sammy was gonna pat me on the back for being a hero, but instead she slapped my face. "Ow!" I yelped. "What was that all about?" She pointed at the ground. I didn't fully understand. She groans. "You stepped on the tiles, it started some kind of arrow booby trap." I scratched my head. She would be a good darer some day. Better than me, at least. "Smart, actually. Come on, let's be more careful than before. Agreed?" She nodded. "Agreed." We set off to the next floor.
