PURPOSE

  • To balance supply and demand for farm products, so that prices would support a decent purchasing power for farmers.

WHO DID IT AFFECT?

  • It affected the farmers by controlling the supply of wheat, cotton, rice, peanut, tobacco, and milk by offering payment to farmers in return for of their land out for farming

WAS IT SUCCESSFUL?

  • It was successful, because critics admitted that the AAA and related laws helped revive hope in farm communities.
  • The AAA did not end the Depression and drought, but it remained the basis for all farm programs in the for 70 years during the 20th Century.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE TODAY?

  • 1937, Supreme Court ruled it out, because they thought it was unconstitutional.
  • But later it was rewritten and passed into a law.
  • It is still in effect today and are still hotly debated.
