  • Anther-the part of a stamen that contains the pollen.

  • Barometer-an instrument measuring atmospheric pressure
  • used especially in forecasting the weather and determining altitude.

  • Cells-the smallest structural and functional unit of an organism
  • the stypically microscopic and consisting of cytoplasm and a nucleus enclosed in a membrane
  • Microscopic organisms typically consist of a single cell, which is either eukaryotic or prokaryotic

  • D is for dicot
  • Dicot- is a plant that have two seed leaves, or cotyledons.

E

  • E is for electromagnet
  • Electromagent- A magnet consisting essentially of a coil of insulated wire wrapped around a soft iron
  • core that is magnetized only when current flows through the wire.

  • Fixed pulley-A pulley is a wheel on an axle that is designed to support movement

  • Jet stream-a narrow, variable band of very strong, predominantly
  • westerly air currents encircling the globe several miles above the earth

  • Kinetic energy-energy that a body possesses by virtue of being in motion

  • L is for lever
  • a rigid bar resting on a pivot, used to help move a heavy or firmly
  • firmly fixed load with one end when pressure is applied to the other.

  • M Is for motor
  • Motor-a machine, especially one powered by electricity or internal combustion
  • athat supplies motive power for a vehicle or for some other device with moving part

  • N is for nuclear energy
  • Nuclular energy-the energy released during nuclear fission or fusion,
  • especially when used to generate electricity.

  • O Is for ovule
  • Ovule-the part of the ovary of seed plants that contains the female
  • Germ cell and after fertilization becomes the seed

  • P is for potential energy
  • Potential energy- the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its position relative to
  • others, stresses within itself, electric charge, and other factors.

  • Roots-the part of a plant that attaches it to the ground or to a support

  • Troposhere-the lowest region of the atmosphere, extending from the earth's surface to a height of about
  • 3.7–6.2 miles (6–10 km), which is the lower boundary of the stratosphere.

U

  • U is for ultra violent rays
  • Ultra violent rays-beyond the violet in the spectrum, corresponding to light having wavelengths
  • Shorter Than 4000 angstrom units.

V

  • V is for vascular plants
  • Vascular plants-a plant that is characterized by the presence of conducting tissue

W

  • W is for wind
  • Wind-the perceptible natural movement of the air, especially in the form of a current of
  • air blowing from a particular direction

X

  • X is for X-axis
  • X-axis - the principal or horizontal axis of a system
  • of coordinates points along which have a value of zero for all other coordinates

Y

  • Y is for Y-axis
  • Y-axis -the secondary or vertical axis of a system of coordinates
  • points along which have a value of zero for all other coordinates.

Z

  • Z is for zebra
  • Zebra-an African wild horse with black-and-white stripes and an erect mane
