PRESENTATION OUTLINE

"Solomon Northup awoke in the middle of an April night in 1841 with his body trembling, his head throbbing, and a terrifying question in his mind: Where was he? He slowly realized that he was in a dark, dank, foul-smelling dungeon in Washington, D.C. Worse yet, he was in handcuffs and his feet were chained to the floor." Stolen into slavery is the story of a black man named Solomon Northrop. He lives in New York and he is free. One day, he gets offered to go with some white men to a carnival, and he agreed in order to make extra money for his children. The men kidnapped him and forced him into illegal slavery for 12 years, and he was forced to be away from his family. He spend years being beaten and sold from plantation to plantation, hoping to someday be free again.
