A is for Anemometer

  • An anemometer is a tool used to measure wind speed.

  • A circuit is a circular path or flow of electricity.

  • A domain is a group in a system of classification by a certain cell type.
  • A lion is in the domain or cell group known as, eukarya.

E is for elephant

  • An elephant is a mammal.
  • Mammals are animals that have hair or fur and produce milk.
  • Their babies are born living, not in eggs.

f is for Fruit

  • A fruit is the ripened ovary of a flower.
  • The fruit contains and protects the seed.

g is for generator

  • A generator is a machine that transfers mechanical energy into electrical.
  • In other words, a generator makes electricty out of movement.

H is for hurricane

  • A hurricane is a tropical storm that forms over water.
  • A hurricane weakens as it hits land.
  • The winds usually range between about 60-80 mph.

i is for Invertebrate

  • An invertebrate is an animal that doesn't have a backbone.
  • This spider is an invertebrate it doesn't have a backbone.
  • But, the spider does have an exoskeleton which supports it as well.

J is for Jet Stream

  • A jet stream is a wind that flows through the upper troposphere. 
  • It travels at great speeds and vast distances from west to east.

k is for Kingdom

  • A kingdom is one of six divisions of living things that have common traits.
  • Mushrooms are a fungus,  they belong to the Fungi kingdom.

L is for Lever

  • A lever is a solid bar that rotates around a center pivot point.
  • This pivot point is called a fulcrum.
  • This see-saw is an example of a lever in the real world.
  • Levers are one of six simple machines.

  • A magnet is a piece of iron or steel that can attract another subtance
  • Magnets have two poles, the north pole and the south pole.

N is for Nitrogen

  • Nitrogen is a certain type of gas.
  • Nitrogen is 78% of Earth's atmosphere.

O is for Oxygen

  • Oxygen is a certain type of gas.
  • Humans and many other organisms need it to survive.
  • Oxygen is also 21% of earth's atmosphere.

  • A pulley is a made of a grooved wheel with a rope running through it.
  • A pulley is one of six simple machines.

Q  is for quills

  • Quills are spines on animal for protection.
  • Animals use quills as a defense structure to poke predators.
  • Some quills can't be removed, and some are even poisonous
  • For example, a porcupine uses quills as a defense.

R is for Radiant Energy

  • Radiant energy is energy projecting off of an object.
  • In this case the heat and light are radiating from the flame.

  • A screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder.
  • Screws can be used to pierce through things like a wedge.
  • But, they also can be used to hold things together.

t IS FOR tHERMAL eNERGY

  • Thermal energy is heat coming off of an object.

u IS FOR uLTRA-vIOLET rAYS

  • Ultra-violet rays are the rays emitting from the Sun.
  • These rays can be harmful to humans and other animals.
  • These rays are what cause sunburn.

v IS FOR vASCUALR pLANTS

  • Vascular plants have tube-like structures that transfer water and food.
  • Vascular plants don't need to be as close to water as nonvascular plants.

  • A wheel and axle consists of a rotating piece that spins around a rod.
  • Usually the rotating piece (wheel) is circular shaped so it can roll.
  • A wheel and axle is one of six different simple machines.

  • A xylem is tube in a vascular plant's tube system.
  • Unlike the phloem tube, that transfers food.
  • The xylem transfers water.

y IS fOR yELLOW wOOD

  • A Yellow Wood tree is a vascular plant.
  • It can live further away from water.
  • It can also grow to be very tall.

  • A zebra is a vertebrate.
  • This means that  zebras have a backbone.
  • The backbone supports the zebra's entire structure.
