HOW DOES THE SIZE OF A SOCCER BALL AFFECT HOW FAR IT WILL GO?

Hypothesis

IF I CHANGE THE SOCCER BALL SIZE, WHICH IS SIZE 3, 4, AND 5, THE SIZE THREE BALL WILL GO FARTHER BECAUSE IT WEIGHS LESS THAN THE SIZE 4 AND 5.

Materials

  • Size 3, 4, and 5 soccer balls
  • Measuring Tape
  • Kicker
  • Astro Turf Field with yard markers

Variables

  • Independent variable is the size.
  • Dependent variable is how far it goes.
  • Controlled variables are location, person kicking, model of the soccer ball, and force.

Procedure

  • I got the size 3, 4, and 5, soccer balls from Dick's.
  • I kicked the size three ball on the astro turf field three times.
  • I measured how far it went in yards and then converted to centimeters.
  • I recorded the data.
  • Repeated steps 2-4 for the size 4 and 5 soccer balls.
