Introduction:
Francois-Marie Arouet de Voltaire ( Voltaire ) was born on November 21, 1694. Voltaire died in 1778. He was one of the greatest philosophers/writers of the Enlightenment. This project is about him.

Childhood:
Voltaire was born into a middle class family in Paris, France. His mother and father were
Marie Marguerite d'Aumart and Francois Arouet. He was the youngest of five siblings. A terrible thing happened to him at the age of seven. His mother passed.

Education:
Went to college at Louis-le-Grand for seven years. (1704 - 1711). He learned the languages of English, Spanish, Italian, Latin, and Greek. He learned there he wanted to be a writer.

Voltaire's Beliefs:
Believed in the civil liberties. The civil liberties are freedom of religion, assembly, consciousness, speech, movement and right to fair trial.

Contributions to our government:
He influenced the writings of our constitution. He also influenced us to fight Britain in the American revolution.
