FACTS ABOUT ABRAHAM
- Born under the name Abram in the city of Ur in Babylonia.
- Was the son of Terah, and brother to Nahor and Haran.
- At age 75, God appeared to Abram to tell him that G-d would assign the land to his heirs in Genesis 12:7-
- As in the Old Testament, angels came to Abraham & Sarah’s tent and promised that Sarah will have a baby boy.
- In Jewish tradition, Abraham died at the age of 175 and was buried by Isaac and Ishmael in a cave of Machpelah.

14. Salvation history, properly so-called, begins with Abram, whom God named Abraham which means “father of a multitude.” Abraham was the first patriarch of the people of Israel. The word patriarch means “the father of the people.” In the person and life of Abraham, the central events of the salvation of the world by Christ in the New Testament have been prefigured.
15. Isaac, appearing as a prefiguration of the Saviour over two thousand years before the Birth of Christ, foreshadowed, according to God’s will, Jesus Christ. He, like Jesus Christ, went without complaint to the place of sacrifice. As Jesus Christ bore the Cross Himself, so Isaac himself carried the wood for the sacrifice. (abraham offered him)
