- Ruled one of the world's largest empires, his reign as Spain's's king began the Golden Age
- Considered himself to be a traditional Spanish man, had a love for music and art, was also deeply religious
- His primary method of creating alliances and strengthening loyalties was through marriages

LOUIS XIV
- Born on September 5, 1638, in Saint-Germainen-Layne, France
- Became king in 1643 and as of 1662, he starting reforming France
- His first goal of absolute monarch was to centralize and reign in control of France
- Known as the "Sun King" because he was similar to Apollo in which they both brought life to all things, brought peace, and admired arts
- Fought in four wars, War of Devolution, War against Holland, War of the league of Augsburg, War of Spanish Succession
IVAN THE TERRIBLE
- Grandson of Ivan the Great, born on August 25, 1530 in the Grand Duchy of Muscovy, Russia
- Received the name the "terrible" because of his blood thirsty habits and cruel personality
- Two main goals were to resist the Mongol Golden Horde and to gain access to the Baltic
- He aimed to conquer all remaining independent regions and create a larger, more centralized Russia
- Was a tsar of Russia and established a tradition of absolute rule

- Was a Russian czar in the late 17th century
- Undertook extensive reforms in an attempt to reestablish Russia as a great nation
- Focused on the development of science and recruited several experts to educate his people about technological advancements.
- Under His rule, Russia became a great European nation

- Second son of Henry VII
- Was married six times, hoping to produce a male heir
- Was highly educated and loved and wrote music
- Was determined that his family should rule England and Wales for a long time.

- Born on the September 7, 1533 in Greenwich England
- Claimed the throne at the age of 25 and held it for 44 years
- Took the reins of her country after the death of her sister in 1558
- Received tutoring and excelled at languages and music
- Never been married, known as the Virgin Queen.
