Absolute Value Function

A function of the form F(x) = |mx+b| + C, where M is not equal to 0.

Dependent Variable

The y-value of a function.

Independent Variable

The x-value of a function.

Range

the set of all outputs, or y-coordinates of the ordered pairs.

Domain

the inputs, or the x-coordinates of the ordered pairs.

Function

A relation in which each element of the domain is paired with exactly one element in the range

Vertical Line Test

A way to tell if a relation is a function.

Linear Inequality

An inequality in two variables whose graph is a region of the coordinate plane that is bounded by a line

Slope

is the ratio of the vertical line to a corresponding horizontal change.

Slope-Intercept Form

Y=MX+B, used to find the slope.

Standard Form

Ax+By=C, where A,B,C are real numbers, and A,B are not zero.

Point Slope Form

Y-Y1=m(x-x1), used to find the equation of the line.

Parent Function

A simple function in which all its family resemble each other. Including graph.
