DEFINING, TYPES, EXAMPLES, CYCLE, AND PREVENTION

WHAT IS A ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS

  • Hitting, kicking, shoved, or things thrown at you
  • You are afraid to disagree with your partner
  • You are always apologizing for your partner
  • You are afraid of your partner when he/she gets angry
  • Threatens to hurt you, him/herself, other friends and family

HOW TO TELL SOMEONE IS IN A ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP

  • Missing school or withdrawing activities
  • Grades fall
  • Depressed, withdraw from friends or family
  • Insecure and put him/herself down
  • Wears baggy clothing covering most of his/her body or injuries

TYPES OF ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS

  • Emotional abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Physical abuse

STAGE ONE: TENSION BULIDS

  • Tells you you can wear what he wants you to wear
  • Getting irritated over little things
  • Getting jealous

STAGE TWO: EXPLOSION

  • Hitting, throwing stuff, shoving, and/or kicking
  • Angry and breaks stuff
  • Puts you down
  • Threatening

STAGE THREE: HONEYMOON

  • Giving you flowers
  • Telling you he is sorry and won't do it again
  • This goes on for a short amount of time
  • The cycle repeats itself if not taken care of

HOW TO PREVENT IT

  • Talk to a consoler
  • Call someone
  • Talk to a trusted adult
  • Call a public hotline
  • Talk to a trusted friend
