Acadia National Park is a United States National Park located in the state of Maine, near Bar Harbor. It reserves much of Mount Desert Island, and associated smaller islands, off the Atlantic coast.

THE "NAMES"

  • Sieur de Monts National Monument - 1916
  • Lafayette National Park - 1919
  • Acadia - 1929

The area was originally inhabited by the Wabanaki people.

The Park contains :
Mountains

Lakes

Ocean Shoreline

Cadillac Mountain, located within the park, is not only the highest mountain along the Atlantic Coast but also one of the first places to see the sunrise in the United States each morning

There are at least 40 different species of mammals living in the park, including moose, beaver, coyotes and black bear
