OCEAN DRIVE

Acadia was established in July 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson. It's first name was Sieur de Monts but was changed to Acadia in 1929.

GORHAM MOUNTAIN TRAIL

One of the most popular hiking trails in Acadia which is on Mount Desert Island.

OTTER CLIFF

Otter Cliff is 110 feet high which is the highest ocean cliff on the east coast.

CARRIAGE ROADS AND BRIDGES

These roads and bridges were built using money donated by John D Rockefeller between 1913 and 1940. They are used for hikers, bikers, horses and carriages. The network of roads make up 57 miles.

CADILLAC MOUNTAIN

Cadillac mountain is 1530 feet high and is the highest point on the North Atlantic coast. From October 7 to March 6 you can see the first sunrise in the United States here.

BASS HARBOR HEAD LIGHT

The Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse was built in 1858 on a stone foundation out of bricks. It is at the entrance to Bass Harbor.

SEAWALL is a natural granite and loose boulder and rock seawall.

JORDAN POND

Jordan pond was formed by glaciers. It is exceptionally clear. You can see about 50 feet down into the water.

ACADIA

Acadia was originally inhabited by the Wabanaki tribe. The park is made up of mountains, shores, woods and lakes. It has more than 47,000 acres. It is home to 40 different mammals. Enjoy your year on team Acadia.
