DAILY LIFE

  • Most people were slaves and had to go to work for 5-6 hours a day.
  • Women usally build their body strangth abd had healthy babies.

GREEK GODS AND GODDESSES

  • Apollo was the son of Leto and Zeus. He was born on the island of Delos. He and his twin sister Artemis, also an Olympian, shared an aptitude for archery. The nine Muses were companions of his. They were goddesses known for inspiring art and music.

ANCIENT OLYMPIC

  • The ancient Olympic Games were initially a one day event until 684 BC, when they were extended to three days. In the 5th century B.C. the Games were extended again to cover five days. The ancient Games included running, long jump, shot put, javelin, boxing, pankration and equestrian events.

  • The Parthenon construction cost the Athenian treasury 469 silver talents. While it is almost impossible to create a modern equivalent for this amount of money

ANTINOUS

  • Antinous was a Bithynian Greek youth and a favourite, or lover, of the Roman emperor Hadrian. He was deified after his death, being worshiped in both the Greek East and Latin West, sometimes as a god and sometimes merely as a deified mortal.

GREEK GEOGRAPHY

  • Greece has more than 1400 islands. The country has mild winters and long, hot and dry summers. The ancient Greeks were a seafaring people. They traded with other countries around the Mediterranean. Many cities created settlements overseas known as colonies.
