“For you yourselves know, brothers, that our coming to you was not in vain. But though we had already suffered and been shamefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we had boldness in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in the midst of much conflict. For our appeal does not spring from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive,...

......but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts. For we never came with words of flattery, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed—God is witness. Nor did we seek glory from people, whether from you or from others, though we could have made demands as apostles of Christ...

...But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.”
1 Thessalonians 2:1-8

I.The Sufficiency of Scripture:

Acts 17:1-9

“For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,”
1 Corinthians 1:22-23

Is the Bible enough for us to know about
who God is, what He desires for us to do, and is it useful for our everyday life?

“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 14:-17

We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, through the words of human authors. As the verbally inspired Word of God, the Bible is without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged...

Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises.

“...although Christians claim they believe in the sufficiency of Scripture, they often live like they don’t, prizing their experience instead of Scripture’s instruction. In faith and practice, too many Christians nod at what the Bible says, but politely set it aside to live their life how they think or feel is best.”

We come to scripture to see God. God cannot be domesticated or clipped. We come to scripture to have more of God's glory and God's grace revealed to us.
The Bible is not just for the transference of information but the transformation of our lives.

If the Bible is our highest court of authority and should be the lens through which we see the world, how do we affirm what the Bible affirms and deny what the Bible denies?

II.How to Examine the Scripture:

Acts 17:10-15

The Rule of Faith in
Bible Interpretation:
Letting scripture interpret and bring meaning to scripture and life to doctrine.

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.”
1 Corinthians 15:3-5

“saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised."”...‬‬ “And he said to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?" And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.”
Luke 9:22, 24:25-27

“Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, "Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us."”
Psalm 2:1-3

“For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.”
Psalm 16:10

“For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet— I can count all my bones— they stare and gloat over me; they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.”
Psalm 22:16-18

“The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, "You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek."”
Psalm 110:4
