PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Acts 27:13-20
1. The south wind blew softly
a. The crew sailed close to Crete and seem to be sailing at ease until the wind of the Northeaster struck and drove them south towards the island of Cauda.
b. They lightened the ship on the following day, threw the tackle overboard on the third day and finally, after several days in the storm, they gave up.
Acts 27:21-32
1. ""When many would no longer eat"" 27:21-26
A .They had not eaten for many days
B. Paul reminded them: he had recommended to not sail from Crete
C. Paul then assured them there would be no loss of life; only the
ship would be lost - the message came from an angel of God
D. Paul affirmed his trust in God to the men by saying, "for I
believe God that it will be just as it was told me"
E. Paul further revealed that the ship would run
Acts 27:21-32 (27:27-32 continued)
2. After 14 Nights, the sailor sensed they were near land. 27:27-32
a. They took soundings and determined they were nearing land
b. It was dark; they dropped four anchors to avoid running aground
and prayed for daylight
c. The sailors lowered the skiff to appear they were putting out
more anchors; but they intended to leave the ship
d. Paul told the centurion and soldiers, "Unless these men stay in
the ship, you cannot be saved."
e .The soldiers cut the ropes to the skiff and let it fall away
Acts 27:33-38
a. As the day dawned, Paul encouraged them to eat; it had been
fourteen days since they had eaten
c. Paul indicated they needed food for nourishment and survival
d. He reminded them they all would be safe
e. Paul took bread, gave thanks to God, and began to eat before
them
f. They were all encouraged by Paul and ate as well
g. After they had eaten enough, they threw out the wheat to
lighten the ship
Acts 27:33-38 (Continued)
h. There were two hundred seventy-six people aboard the ship
Acts 27:39-45 (Verses 39-41 outlined)
a. At daylight, they saw a bay with a beach
b. They desired to drive the ship onto the beach
c. They let the anchors go into the sea, hoisted the main sail and
headed for the beach
d. The ship ran aground "where two seas met" and the "prow stuck
fast" - the ship was immovable
Acts 27:39-44 (Verses 39-41 outlined)
e. The waves violently began to break up the ship
Acts 27:42-44
a. The soldiers planned to kill the prisoners to keep any from escaping
b. The centurion stopped the soldiers' plan
1. He wanted to save Paul
c. They all escaped safely to the island
""When many would no longer eat, Paul stood among them and said, "Men, you should have taken my advice and not have avoided this disastrous loss."" Acts 27:21
""When he entered Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself, with the soldier who was guarding him."" Acts 28:16
