Hitler was introduced to German Worker's Party in 1919.
He quickly took it over and renamed it to the Nazi Party.
Formed the SA, a secret party created to fight opposition.

BEER HALL PUTSCH
Hitler attempted to overthrow German government, known as Beer Hall Putsch.
He led 2,000 SA members on march through Munich after previous plan failed.
This resulted in a fierce gun battle.
Hitler was apprehended and imprisoned for 9 months.

LEGAL RISE TO POWER
Hitler revived Nazi Party after imprisonment.
He formed SS, a violent sector of the Nazi Party.
He started presidential campaign after German Great Depression.
Lost the 1932 elections.
He was appointed chancellor by the President because of his popularity.

THE NIGHT OF LONG KNIVES
After becoming Chancellor, Hitler gained full dictatorial power.
He passed numerous laws restricting Jews and eliminating competition.
Among these acts were the Night of Long Knives.
He destroyed the rebellious SA to secure his power.
On June 30, 1934, the SS tracked down SA leaders and Nazi rivals over a two week period.
Approximately 74 people were killed.

ENTERING WWII
Hitler removed Germany from the League of Nations.
He announced he was rebuilding Germany's army, navy, and air force, violating the Treaty of Versailles.
He invaded Czechoslovakia and Poland before France and the UK declared war on Germany.

OPERATION BARBAROSSA
This mission started the decline of Nazi Party.
On June 22, 1941, Hitler invaded Soviet Russia with 3,000,000 troops.
At first the German Army drove deep into SU soil
However, they were ill-prepared for winter and had to hold back.
By the winter of 1942, the German army was surrounded at the Battle of Stalingrad where they eventually surrendered.
At this point in the war, the German people were turning against Hitler.

FINAL SOLUTION
As the war turned against the Nazis, Hitler focused his attention to the Final Solution, the eradication of Jews.
His time spent on the Final Solution hindered his ability to stop the Allies.
The nail in the coffin for Hitler's campaign was D-Day.
On April 30, 1945, Hitler committed suicide with his wife Eva Braun to avoid being captured by the Allies.
