EARLY LIFE

  • Adolfo Perez Esquivel was born on Novemeber 1931 in Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • He founded many associations such as the Ecumencial movement for human rights and the Permanent assembly for human rights

EARLY LIFE CONTINUED

  • He also founded a monthly magazine called "Servicio Paz y Justicia" which speaks of the protection of human rights
  • Traveled to many countries talking about military injustices

ACCOMOLISHMENTS

  • Esquivel won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1980 for his human rights work
  • Also, he was awarded the Pope John XIII prize for going to jail three times for what he believes in

  • He was moved to president of Solano Peace, Justice and Freedom coalition
  • He was appointed secretary-general at an organization formed for human rights

  • The definition of this catholic social teaching principle is to put the needs of the poor and vulnerable at top priority

  • Esquivel made crafts to support a poor neighborhood while he was still in art school
  • Also, he made a campaign protesting government rules that were harsh on the poor/vulnerable

SOLIDARITY

  • The definition of this Catholic Social Teaching principle is to love God's children and promote peace

SOLIDARITY

  • Esquivel began a campaign for solidarity with Indians in Ecuador, inspiring him to write his book, that was previously mentioned, Christ in a Poncho.
  • He donated all of the prize money from winning the Nobel Peace prize to the poor, showing that he truly believes in his cause
