Advertising Art Director

Advertising Art Directors also known as the "Creatives" are responsible for creating visual materials for various medias such as television, posters, and billboards.

responsibilities

  • Producing sketches for storyboards (tv) or roughs (prints)
  • Communicating with copywriter to generate ideas and concepts
  • Presenting new ideas to clients
  • Working closely with photographers and artists
  • Working with editors to oversee the finished product

required Skills

  • Strong understanding in typography, photography, digital media,and printing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High interests in fashion, social and cultural trends
  • Must be a team player and be detailed oriented
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite programs

education/experience

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design is preferred
  • Strong portfolio of art and design work
  • Some advertising agencies may require a IPA Foundation Certificate
  • Taking additional art or design courses may be necessary
  • Several years of working experience in advertising agency
