Kites in General and Kite Fighting

Kites in general: China

When: 2500 years ago

Kite Fighting: India

Practiced:Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Brazil, and is now even played in America on a slightly lesser level

KITE MAKING

How are these kites different?

String: a cotton string coated with a resin of crushed glass and glue

Kite: bamboo rods, glue, & "tissue paper" fabric

Finger protector - rubber tubing, leather ,or tape worn on hand or index finger as protection from string

Ready Set Go: the wires touch & the battle has begun

Objective: To slice an opponent's kite wire with your own

Kite Runners: (Normally)Children who chase down and capture fallen kites.
