  • transformed from struggling to prosperous in last four decades
  • very open to migration 
  • lots of people migrated away due to job oppurtunities
  • migrants headed to places like China, Japan, & Russia
  • migrants went to US after 1965 after they opened up migration

AFghanistan migration

  • experienced the largest refugee crisis 
  • refugee movement cause: wars
  • highly skilled move to western countries
  • Afghan Diaspora spread out in waves

South korean language

  • Korean spoken by more than 78 million people
  • one of the oldest languages in the world
  • alphabet created by King Sejong

  • these religions were influenced by legacies of Korean Confucianism
  • 45% of population still classified as irreligious

  • low poverty rates restrain them from being more developed

  • capital also has major western businesses in downtown
  • Seoul is more of a multi-nuclei city due to close industrial structure
