Population Growth

  • population growth has decreased because of AIDS/HIV
  • in 1994 Lagos was suppose to be the 3rd largest city in the world by 2015
  • in 2001 it was predicted to be the 11th by 2015
  • population development is unpredictable
  • higher migration to urban areas because of lower food prices (trade unions)

Urbanization in Africa has largely been translated to rising slum establishments, increasing poverty, and inequality.
