Tropical Wet

• -near south africa
• -temperatures around 80°F year round
• -lots of precipitation
• -Plants grown in this area include plantain, pineapple, coffee, cocoa, and oil palms

Savanna

• -Southern and eastern africa
• -cool temperatures
• -mild precipitation
• -dry season can last up to 6 months
• -Plants grown in this area include cassava, peanuts, peppers, okra, eggplant, cucumber, and watermelon

desert

• -Northern africa (Sahara and sahel)
• -Very wide range of temperatures
• -very little precipitation
• -Crops in this area include date palms and cotton

Mediterranean

• -extreme northern and southern africa
• -mild temperatures, dry summers, and rainy winters
• - crops in this area include figs, olives, oranges, tomatoes, onions, and large vegetables (cabbage and cauliflower)

highlands

• -occurs in the more elevated parts of africa
• -much colder than surrounding lowlands
• -precipitations depends on mountain orientation
• -Crops in this area include alfalfa, potatoes, and wheat

my reaction

• I didn't know that africa had so many different climate areas and it fascinated me on how different they were. The area that africans live in depends also on their social status, like we learned in the book. i can see why countries like britain wanted to take over africa because of its resources and vast difference in climates.
