  • 80 percent of all grown corn is used as livestock feed
  • Corn is used as food or processed into ethanol

  • An average American eats 142 pounds of potatoes a year
  • Potatoes can be grown from Florida to Alaska and yields over 30 billion pounds of potatoes each year

  • Cotton is grown is 17 states
  • Cotton farmers raise nearly 7.3 billion pounds of cotton each year
  • Cotton is used to make clothes, it used in making archival papers, and can be crushed to make oil

  • In 2014 26.7 million pounds of wool was harvested from sheep
  • It it used for mostly clothes but it is also used in furniture trade
  • A sheep yields anywhere from 2 to 30 pounds of wool

  • Wood can be used to make paper and building materials
  • Sap is used to make maple syrup and even chewing gum
  • Bark is used for medicine and cosmetics

WHEAT

  • Wheat is used to make bread and flour
  • Wheat is the most widely grown crop
