POPULATION GROWTH

  • In 600 CE, the population was about 53 million.
  • By 800 CE, population increased by 20%.
  • By 1000 CE, population grew by 25%.
  • After, population grew steadily.

URBANIZTION

  • Demographic increase caused more people to concentrate in cities.
  • Ports and trading centers increased in inhabitants.
  • Southern India population grew because of agricultural productivity.
