Composition Of Functions

  • Input = x
  • Output from f becomes the input to g
  • Final output = y
  • There are two notations that are used to indicate composition of two functions. f and g
  • f(g(x)) is the same as fog

Here are the steps we can use to find the composition of two functions:

Step 3: Simplify the answer.

please note

  • (f og)(x) = f(g(x)), the g function is inside of the f function (g of )(x) = g(f(x)), the f function is inside of the g function

try this with your elbow Partner\ If f(x) =4x+9, g(x)=2x-7 find (gf(x)).

sOLUTION\\\

  • g(fx)= 2(-4x +9)-7 =-8x+18-7 =8x+11 Thus,g(Fx) = 8x + 11.

  • \1. if F(x)=x+5 G(x) = 9x find F(h(X).
  • 2. if F(x)=3X+2 G(x)=5X-1 \ find F(G(X).
