It is endemic to the Ashmore and Cartier Islands of Australia.
POPULATION
An estimated population size of 4,000 to 9,000 individuals
DENGERS
Incidental catch and death in commercial prawn trawling fisheries appears to be the biggest threat to seasnakes in the North-west Marine Bioregion (Guinea 2007)
