Alfred Bandura was born on December 4, 1925 in Mundare, Alberta.

CHILDHOOD/HOME LIFE

  • Youngest of 6 children
  • Only boy
  • His parents were very keen on their children doing well in school
  • One small school with only 2 teachers

BASIC PHILOSOPHY/ BELIEFS

  • Imitation
  • Believes that a kid sees and observes the actions and imitates aggressive behavior

EXPERIMENTS/STUDIES/RESULTS

  • Bobo doll experiment
  • Boys imitated more physically aggressive acts than girls.
  • Social learning theory- people learn through observing others behavior, attitudes, and outcomes of those behaviors
  • Girls are more aggressive toward males and girls are more verbal aggressive towards other females

STRANGEST/MOST INTERESTING EXPERIMENT

  • Bobo Doll Experiment
  • In his experiment, he showed a film of a woman acting aggressive toward a bobo doll.
  • Showed the same film to a group of children, and afterward the children immediately began hitting the bobo doll.

THEORIST VS. THEORY

  • Albert lived with 5 girls and was the youngest child. This caused him to do a theory about aggressiveness and how girls react vs. how boys react.
