ALBERT BANDURA

BACKGROUND

  • Born December 4th, 1925 in Canada
  • Graduated from the University of British Columbia
  • Received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology
  • From the University of Iowa in 1952
  • He got to school early and went to "Filler classes" to pass the time

HIS THEORY

  • Social Learning Theory
  • Includes observational learning, imitation, and modeling
  • People learn by observing the experiences of others

BOBO DOLL EXPERIMENT

  • Experiment to prove his theory
  • Showed that kids will imitate violence that they observe
  • By far his most famous experiment

BANDURA'S ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Taught at Stanford
  • Served as Presdient of the APA
  • Received the APA's award for Distinguished Scientific Contribution in 1980
  • Won the Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to Psychology in 2004
