This is a presentation for my media studies blog. It is about creating the first album cover from the photo shoot to the final piece after the use of photo shop.

ALBUM COVER 1: Not Hiding Any More

From Photo Shoot to Final Design
This is the first out of the five album covers. I will start from the photo shoot and evidencing, then go to choosing the design, to photo-shopping and evidencing and then I will reveal the final design of the album cover.

The Photo Shoot
All the photos on the following slides are all original photographs that I have taken. (Evidence of this will follow). On my blog, I will explain my choice of final photograph and in the notes here I will explain why I didn't choose the other photographs for the actual album cover.

All photographs that are shown in the following slides are all original and taken by me. There will be evidence of this after all the photographs taken from the shoot have finished.

As I was only allowed to choose one photograph for my final choice, there will be 26 other photographs that I haven't chosen to be the photograph that I use on my album cover. The notes on each of the photographs will be why I didn't choose the photograph apart from the one I actually chose.

Photograph 1

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- The camera angle was too wide

- The proxemics weren't intimate enough (as they're a group and a couple)

Photograph 2

I didn't choose this photograph because:

-I didn't really like it that much.

Photograph 3

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- Anbu has his eyes closed.

Photograph 4

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- Although, I actually like this photo, the glare from Anbu's glasses make it look bad.

Photograph 5

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- I took the photo too early and his hand is slightly out of focus.

Photograph 6

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- It seems too impersonal to the viewer.

Photograph 7

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- It is too far away.

Photograph 8

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- Although, this was one of my favourites and it was the decision between this and the chosen one, I thought the one I chose, looked better for the theme of the Album.

Photograph 9

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- It looks too intimate

Photograph 10

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- I took the photo when they were joking around about different poses.

Photograph 11

THE PHOTOGRAPH CHOSEN:

I did choose this photograph because:

- I like the angle.

- I like the proxemics.

- It fits in with the title.

Photograph 12

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- The angle wasn't perfect.

- It was too close to Poppy's face.

Photograph 13

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- They were moving into the position I asked them to get into.

Photograph 14

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- They were moving into the position I asked them to get into.

Photograph 15

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- They were moving into the position I asked them to get into.

Photograph 16

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- They were moving into the position I asked them to get into.

Photograph 17

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- Poppy is smiling too much. If she was smiling less or had a serious look on her faceI would have considered this photograph.

Photograph 18

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- They were moving into the position I asked them to get into.

Photograph 19

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- They were moving into the position I asked them to get into.

Photograph 20

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- They were moving into the position I asked them to get into.

- Slightly out of focus.

Photograph 21

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- Slightly out of focus.

Photograph 22

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- It is too bright of a photo.

- Anbu's facial expression is too serious.

Photograph 23

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- Although, I like this photo, anbu is turned around enough.

Photograph 25

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- Poppy is looking in the wrong direction.

Photograph 26

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- Although, I like this photo, it wasn't what I was going for with the title of the album.

Photograph 27

I didn't choose this photograph because:

- I cut Anbu out of the photo a little too much.

Evidence

All Photographs that follow are evidence from the photoshoot
The following photographs are of what I did during the photo shoot. This was: setting up the set and saying which poses to do (which way to face, where to look, how to stand, to to behave etc) and actually taking the photographs.

Evidence: Setting up Set (1)

Here, I was telling Anbu where to stand and how to stand for the photograph I was going to take. After, I told Poppy the same thing.

Evidence: Setting up Set (2)

Here, I told Anbu the correct place to stand against the wall and with one foot against the wall.

Evidence: Setting up Set (3)

Here, I am showing Anbu and Poppy how to position their hands for the photograph.

Evidence: Setting up Set (4)

Here, I am explaining where I wanted them to look - directly at the camera (most of the time).

Evidence: Photography (1)

Here, (as you can tell) I am taking photographs of Anbu and Poppy.

Evidence: Photography (2)

Here, again, I am taking more photographs.

Chosen Image

This will be used as the photo on the Album Cover
I explained earlier why I chose this photograph.

Photo Shopping
In the next slides, I will take screen-shots of what happened during the process of Photo-shopping the photo to get it to look like an Album Cover.

Next, I will go through what I did with Photo Shop to get to my final design which is on my Blog.

Step 1: Make the page the correct size

I opened up Adobe PhotoShop and clicked 'New'. After, I clicked 'Custom' on the paper-type. On one of my own CD's, I measured the width and length to find out the measurements, which were: 210mmx210mm.

Step 2: Add in Photograph

Then, I added in the chosen photograph from my Dropbox.

Step 3: Resize photograph to correct size

After that, I resized the image to make sure there weren't any white parts showing of the background. I then placed it.

Step 4: Add in Album Name and change font style and size

I added in the title of the album: 'NOT HIDING ANY MORE' - I changed the font style to make it fancy to look like a CLASSICAL MUSIC ALBUM as it has a sophisticated and flowing look to it. I then sized it to fit along the bottom and placed it to make sure that it didn't cover any of Poppy's face.

Step 5: Add in Band Name and change font style and size

I then added in my choice of Band Name: SYNERGY to the top, resizing it and moving it to the top right to make sure that it would not cover Anbu's head in any way.

Final Design

On Blogger
My final design can be seen underneath the link for this presentation on my Blog. It will be seen on the Double Page Spread along the top of the second page with the other four albums.
