ARCHITECTURE

• There were 336 cells but the most inmates they hade was 306
• They only had just over 1500 inmates in total.
• 8 people where murdered by their inmates
• There where normally 260 inmates at a time
• 5 people committed suicide
• 15 died from illnesses
• There where 300 civilians living on Alcatraz island in an apartment.
• There were 14 escape attempts

AL CAPONE FACTS

• He was one of the first inmates at Alcatraz
• He made around $100 000 a week.
• He got a 10 year sentence to Alcatraz for federal tax evasion
• He made $5.2 mill a year.
• He would pay people to kill his enemies
• He had a night club called "FOUR DEUCES".

THE GREAT ESCAPE

• People think that there were 3 people in the planing but there were really 4.
• The forth person couldn't make it throw the vent
• The anglen brothers robbed a bank with a toy gun
• They started the escape at 9:30 pm
• They stole a bunch of coats (40-80) to make a life raft and life jackets
• They had cells next to each other and they were able to make plans
• They stole tools like spoons and they made power tools
• FBI couldn't say if they survived or died on there journey to the land

• ROY GARDNER
• Roy Gardner wrote a book called (Hellcatraz)
• THE BIRD MAN (Robert stroud)
• The bird man was sentence to hang after killing a guard but instead was sentence a life in Alcatraz
• He spent seventeen years at Alcatraz
• MACHINE GUN KELLY
• M.G.KS family was rich when he was born
• ROY GARDNER said "knowing there was no escape meant the only thing close to it was death" (alcatrazhistory.com) and said the nights where the worst cause that's when you felt alone the most.

MORE OF THE ESCAPE

• They escaped through a storage area in the wall that was rarely used they got to it with the vents in there cells
• There was a bar that dropped and the guards didn't do anything
• A lot of the other inmates helped frank and the anglen brothers
• Franks brother payed the guards not to pay as much attention
• Allen west was the brain in all of the escape
• No one knows if they actuality made it to land
