WHO IS ALDRICH AMES? Aldrich Ames is the American official of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He was trusted for finding Soviet Spies and he became one of the most successful double agents for the Soviet Union and Russia.
Early Life Aldrich Ames was born on May 26, 1941 in River Falls, Wisconsin. Ames was the son of a CIA analyst. He went to the University of Chicago for two years becoming a CIA trainee. He also went to George Washington University.
Aldrich Ames was posted to Ankara from 1969 - 1972. That is where he recruited U.S. spies from Soviet nationals. Then he moved into the United States and lived there until 1981 when he was recruited to Mexico City. There he met and married his second wife.
