  • So he began to experiment with explosives
  • 1864 his brother was killed by a deadly explosion
  • Deeply affected by this so he devoleped a safer explosive

  • He left $250 million dollars to fund the Nobel prizes

CHANGE

  • Another one of alfreds brothers dies
  • The newspaper accidentally printed alfreds obituary
  • They weren't very kind saying
  • "His dynamite killed many people"
  • Alfred wasnt happy with this so he changed his legacy

  • Built up a network of factories all over Europe
  • The factories manufactured explosives
  • Although he lived in Paris he travelled widely

  • Inventing a number of synthetic materials
  • He had 335 patents registered before he died

GELIGNITE

  • 1867 Alfred created Gelignite
  • A mixture of nitrocellulose and nitroglycerin
  • 1887 Ballistite, similar to Gelignite, was created
  • It was a a smokeless, slow burning projectile propellant
  • It was produced in response of the military.
