  • The equation for area is LxW
  • L-length and W-Width

  • All 4 sides of a square measure the same
  • Making length and width the same numbers
  • To solve you have to take the square root of the area

SOLVING THE EQUATION:

  • The square root of 36 is 6
  • So each side measures at 6
  • Your next step is to add up all the sides

  • After adding up all the sides your answer should be 24

COMMON MISTAKES

  • Many people will see the 4 sides and 36 and choose to divide
  • 36/4=9
  • Another common error is to square root and choose 6 as the answer
  • Remember that perimeter is the sum of all 4 sides of the square.
