ALGERIA'S FIGHT FOR INDEPENDANCE

BY JULIA FRANCIS

Who first occupied Algeria?
France was the first country to occupy and colonize Algeria, and also the last. They trampled on the Algerian's lifestyle, and, after many unsuccessful attempts made by other countries, defeated their impeccably strong fleet. Algeria fell under their power, years and years of pain and tears followed by the colonization.

INDEPENDENCE YEARS

  • 1830 was when Algeria was taken over by France
  • 1962 was when the Algerians gained independence
  • 1954-1962-the Algerian war was fought,
  • Eventually resulting in the Algerians gaining independence

MAIN EXPORTS
All of Algeria's exports are mined or manufactured in the country. Algeria has an abundance of exports such as Petronelum, natural gases, iron ore, phosphates, zinc, coal, salt, uranium, lead, wheat, oats, citrus fruit, wine grapes, olives, olive oil, tobacco, construction materials; textiles, clothing, metals, sheep, goats, chickens and cattle. However, problems arouse with lack of supplies, job employment and higher food costs.
