As a group, sort 12 books, first by cover, then by genre, and then topic. Students will explore books with one another and discuss similarities and differences. This should be done with common books that most students have heard/read. Students will learn how to sort using critical thinking skills, observations, categorization, and writing skills while answering teacher questions and doing an assigned task.
The student will learn about Fall and Spring through hands on activities. They will connect science experiments with language arts and create an art project.
Students can research animals using certain letters or animals from a book they are interested in. They can complete the graphic organizer and the class can create an all about animals book. This blog has great ideas for preschool to 2nd grade.
