GHANA IS LOCATED ON THE WEST COAST OF AFRICA

Founded When?

Ghana was in 790. They were founded by Soninke. There capital was made Koumbi Saleh at the time.

Ghana celebrates Independence Day on March 6. They celebrate Republic Day on July 1. Founder's Day is celebrated on September 21. They also celebrate Christmas Day on December 25.

The Climate

Ghana's climate in the north and southeast is very warm and dry and in the southwest it is hot and very humid.

Ghana's History
Ghana gained there independence in 1957. Ghana used to be called the Gold Coast because when the Portuguese came to Ghana they found a lot of gold! The Portuguese came over to Ghana in 1471.

English is the most official language. The most local languages are Ga, Dagomba, Akan, and Ewe.

The most native religion is Christians but there are also Muslims Roman Catholics, Baptist and Protestants.

Ghana's City's

Ghana has 79 cities. Their capital, Accra, has 10% of Ghana's population. Accra is on the coast of Ghana. Near Accra is Takoradi, another big city.

Kids in Ghana have to go through 11 years of school before going to college. They have to go through 2 years of kindergarten!

Natural Resources

Ghana's natural resources are gold, diamonds, aluminum, salt, rubber, and limestone. Gold has been a main natural resource since the Portuguese came to Ghana.

Products

The products in Ghana are, cocoa, rice, cassava, peanuts, oil, and timber. They have a big production in cocoa beans.

Places to visit in Ghana

Two places that are fun to visit in Ghana is the Kakum National Park and Mole National Park. They both excite you with amazing wildlife.

Wildlife in Ghana

Three endangered species are the African Elephant, the Diane Monkeys, and the African Golden Cat. They each have their own unique abilities.

Sports in Ghana

Ghana plays many sports including cricket, basketball, and volleyball, but the biggest sport in Ghana is soccer. They are known as one of Africa's powerhouses.
