• Proposed a heliocentric model for the solar sysyem
• Attempted to measure the realtive distances to the moon and sun

PTOLEMY

• Lived in 100-170 CE
• Wrote a book that was based on observations of the planets
• Believed that a celestial body travled at a constant speed in a circle
• The planets moved on smaller circles that turn moved on larger circles

COPERNICUS

• First person to say the planets move around the sun
