Scientific Name/ Relatives

  • Inia Geoffrensis
  • Relatives: Ganges River Dolphin, Indus River Dolphin, Irrawaddy Dolphin

Anatomic Structures and Unique Features

  • They have molar teeth unlike many other dolphins.
  • They also have a long beak like snout with a prominate domed forehead.
  • This spesific spescies of dalphin is also very outgoing.

Habitat:Fresh water trough Amazon and Orinoco river basins in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Venezuela.
Diet: Fish, shrimp, crabs and occupationally turtles, and piranhas

Human Impacts

  • Humans believe that they have magical powers so they used to not hurt them as much but they are begining to kill them to eliminate competiontion for the fresh water and the fish.
