The amber road was an ancient trade route for the transfer of amber from coastal areas of the the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean Sea. Amber sometimes called "the gold of the north", was transported from the North Sea and Baltic Sea by way of the Vistula and Dnieper rivers to Italy, Greece, the Black Sea, Syria and Egypt thousands of years ago, and long after.
Amber being brought to the different countries brought new opportunities for people to not only gain resources but to also be exposed to new cultures. Many places along the amber road were influenced by the Roman Empire and Celtic tribes.
