JEWISH CONCENTRATION AAND JAPANESE INTERNMENTHUHBL
On February 19, 1942, President Franklin Roosevelt authorized the use of relocation camps and removed Japanese residents away from the West coast by the executive order of 9066. The camps were created because the United States was scared of connections Japanese Americans might have to the enemy. The U.S. didn’t want Japan to bomb us again with any possible help from a Japanese American. The camps were also started because the U.S. thought the Japanese Americans were going to betray the United States.
The evacuation order commenced the round-up of 120,000 Americans of Japanese heritage to one of 10 internment camps—officially called "relocation centers"
These camps were located in California, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, and Arkansas.
The Jewish Concentration Camps were originally designed to hold people who were opposed to Hitler. Hitler expanded the camps to include anybody who he felt was inferior to the Aryan race, such as Jews, Gypsies, and the mentally ill. In these camps millions of people, mostly Jews, died of Mal treatment {Mal treatment is to handle badly, roughly, or abusively} Others died in gas chambers.
It is estimated that 11 million people were killed during the Holocaust. Six million of these people were Jews.
Similarities-
Both were used to restrict the rights and movement of people. Both had extremely bad conditions in each camp, and also forced people to go to the camps.
Both were guarded by many soldiers.
Differences-
The Japanese internment camps were made so the Japanese Americans couldn't have any connections with the Japanese {The enemies}. The Jewish Concentration camps were created by Hitler. He sent who he felt was racially inferior. Also Japanese Interment camps were only made for the Japanese Americans. The Jewish Concentration Camps didn't just have Jews, but also the Mentally ill, Gypsies, and those who opposed to him. The majority were Jews.
We can prevent something like this from ever happening again through exposure and knowledge. We learn from our past mistakes.
