WHAT MY AMENDMENT IS ABOUT

  • A fair trial by jury
  • A jury is a group of people picked randomly from at community
  • The jury looks at all the evidence in the case and make a decision
  • Amendment 7 is the section of the Bill of Rights that guarantees a jury trial
  • For civil cases in federal courts

ADVANTAGES

  • You can have a fair trial
  • There is more than one person deciding your fate.
  • The jury dosent know anything about you so they are less biased.

DISADVANTAGES

  • Someone in the jury might have a prejudice against a certain race or ethnicity

HAS THIS AMENDMENT BEEN CHALLENGED IN COURT?

  • This amendment has not been challenged in court

FELTNER V. COLUMBIA PICTURES TELEVISION INC.

  • CPTI sued Feltner
  • He had 3 T.V. stations that didn't pay CPTI
  • Also he was broadcasting shows that CPTI had stopped
  • And he kept playing them
  • CPTI ended up winning this court case
