  • Freedom of speech
  • The government will not restrict speech unless an individual puts U.S. security in Clear and present danger.

  • The government will not restrict what the press publishes unless it endangers national security.

  • Congress will not make a law restricting practice of any regilion.

  • Groups can hold public meetings without government interference.

  • Congress cannot keep citizens from petitioning grievances.

AMENDMENT 2

  • Right to bare arms
  • All citizens have a right to own guns

AMENDMENT 3

  • No quartering soldiers during times of peace
  • The government will not infringe on property rights by forcing citizens to house soldiers

AMENDMENT 4

  • No unreasonable search or arrest
  • Warrants must be issued before any seizures or searching of private property

AMENDMENT 5

  • No persons shall be put in double jeopardy or have to witness against himself
  • One cannot be tried twice for the same crime, cannot be forced to testify against himself, and is entitled to certain procedures.

AMENDMENT 6

  • Right to a speedy trial and witnesses
  • The government cannot detain citizens or try them unfairly.

AMENDMENT 7

  • Right to a trial by jury
  • If someone is being sued and the amount exceeded a certain amount, the person has a right to a trial by jury.

  • Punishments must fit crimes in order to protect citizens.

  • States are promised autonomy over matters not mentioned in the constitution

  • Individuals cannot sue states in federal court

  • This amendment ended slavery in the U.S.
